Oromyofacial Issues and Breathing Problems
Are you chronically congested, suffer from allergies, or have asthma? Are you mouth breathing throughout the day or night? You may not know that you are mouth breathing but do you notice that your mouth tastes bad when you wake up? Is there drool on your pillow? Are your lips dry?
Did you know that you absorb 20% less oxygen through your mouth than through your nose?!? That means that you are depriving your brain and muscles of oxygen and you could feel better if you were breathing through your nose. We can help!
BreatheWorks experts will help you to retrain your nasal breathing, strengthen your inhalation and exhalation muscles as well as improve the function of your tongue, lips, and jaws. With the right direction and strategies, we can dramatically improve the quality of your life.

How We Can Help
Chronic mouth breathing - whether it’s during the day, night, or both - negatively impacts growth, development, and quality of life across the lifespan. Our team works with patients to establish healthy breathing habits with nasal breathing and diaphragmatic engagement. We address the whole body, including head-to-toe posture and core strength to improve breathing abilities. At night, some patients are dependent on devices like a CPAP machine due to their poor breathing. When possible, through therapy we work to reduce or eliminate dependency on these devices. This involves a careful re-education, balancing, strengthening, and coordination of body posture, respiratory muscles, and oropharynx.
Talk, eat, sleep, breathe better.
Feel better.
